Some sessions feel less like work and more like a good afternoon spent with a friend! This was one of those.
I recently had the joy of photographing my dear friend, Michael, alongside his beloved dog, Wilford, for a portrait session in Downtown Rutherfordton. The streets were wonderfully quiet that day, giving us the rare gift of calm, unhurried moments and the perfect backdrop for something simple and genuine.
Wilford, of course, stole the show more than once. He was patient, attentive, and incredibly well-behaved – clearly a seasoned professional (or at least very committed to being near Michael). The bond between them was effortless and natural, and it came through in every frame.
Working with friends is one of the greatest perks of what I do. There’s an ease that comes from shared history, inside jokes, and the freedom to pause, laugh, and catch up in between frames. This session was filled with all of that! Good conversation and plenty of appreciation for a dog who knew exactly when to look at the camera.
Michael, thank you for trusting me to capture this chapter – and Wilford, thank you for your patience and undeniable star power.
