Double J Farm Wedding: Mackenzie + Wesley

Finding the words to write this post is harder than I thought it would be. Mackenzie is one of the most special people in my life, and watching her walk down the aisle was an absolute dream. She and Wesley have found a love like no other, and we were all in tears on their wedding day. As many of you know, Mackenzie was the flower girl at my wedding and it’s hard to believe she is now a married woman.

Even before they got engaged last December, I always knew that I would one day pass down my wedding jewelry to Mackenzie. So, when they got engaged, I immediately knew what her Christmas gift would be. Not having a daughter of my own, it was a blessing to have Mackenzie in my life to pass down an heirloom. On the wedding day, when Mackenzie put on my jewelry, you know I was sobbing behind my camera. My precious Mackenzie even had a picture of us together from my wedding, when she was the flower girl, sitting on her cake table. Thank goodness for Taylor, with OG Event Planning, for helping me keep it together throughout the day.

Now, on to their magical wedding day because that’s why you’re really here.

The white barn at Double J Farm, which is nestled around rolling hills and mountains, was such a beautiful backdrop for their classic boho wedding. The touches of sienna, burgundy, and tans throughout the venue was breathtaking, and it paired perfectly with this mountain venue.

The girls spent the morning getting dolled up, while the guys hung out at a cabin across the property. After the detail shots, I had some fun with the bridesmaids portraits. Although guests were already arriving, I knew it was time to find a quiet spot so that Mackenzie and Wesley could have a first touch and a private vow reading. This was one of the most emotional moments of the day.

As the processional started, Mackenzie and her father made their slow and sweet walk from the venue to the ceremony site. Mackenzie’s mom, Teresa, is my best friend so as soon as we looked at each other, there were even more tears. Wesley got so emotional when he saw his beautiful bride, and Mackenzie’s dad was shedding a few tears himself. After the two said their vows, they made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich together (as their unity), and softly fed each other a bite.

If you thought all of the crying was over after the ceremony, you would be wrong.

The reception kicked off with the first dances, dinner, and toasts – but then something beautiful took place. Mackenzie grabbed a mic and took center stage. She made the most beautiful and tearjerking speech to her parents, which she ended with the DJ announcing her parents as husband and wife and bringing them to the dance floor to share their very first dance. Mackenzie’s parents never had a wedding, they just went to the courthouse many years ago, so they never had a first dance and Mackenzie wanted to give this to them. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place as Teresa and Brandon shared their very first dance to From the Ground Up, holding each other tight as the crowd faded away. Just wait until you see those pictures.

I could go on and on about how incredibly perfect this day was, but for now, I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Hammond! Y’all are the sweetest couple I know and you make us so proud! It’s been a joy watching your love story unfold and I can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds!

If you missed their downtown Greenville engagement session, or Mackenzie’s bridal portraits, be sure to check them out! Also, a huge thanks to OG Event Planning for making this day seamless! Last, but certainly not least, I want to give a shoutout to Mackenzie’s mom, Teresa, for doing all of the gorgeous arrangements, decor, and cake for the wedding!

XOXO,
