Meet BRP Intern, Sarah!

When I first announced that I would be hiring an intern, I was overwhelmed by the response. My first thought was, “ I can’t believe so people would want to do an internship with ME!” It’s been the most fun experience going through all of the amazing applications and learning about the other creatives in the area.

As I was sorting through applications, I remember reading Sarah’s for the first time. She was so passionate with her responses and I knew she was a perfect fit for the program before I even finished reading it.

When we first met for her interview, she greeted me with a hug and I could hear in her tone that she was genuinely excited about the opportunity. What started out as a general interview, quickly turned into story time and loads of laughter. Next thing I knew, we had been sitting there for two hours!

Sarah is so open and honest and she has an energy that is contagious. Before coming on as BRP’s new intern, she already had some experience with photography and is in the beginning stages of starting her own business. I am thrilled to be bringing her on board and to help further her career!

So, let me introduce Sarah to you and share some fun facts about her!

What are some things you love?

I love bright colors, mac n’ cheese, fashion, big earrings, and Bojangles! I am an emoji addict who has a perfectly color coordinated closet. I LOVE big hair, but not on me!

Where is home?

Lincolnton, NC

What stage of life are you currently in?

I am in a transitional period right now. I graduated early from Cherryville High School in December of 2017, receiving my diploma in June of 2018. After graduating early, I started at Gaston College and will be completing my Associate of Arts this May. I then plan to attend Appalachian State University to major in Communications and Advertising.

What inspired you to pursue photography?

I decided to start a photography business after having my own senior pictures made. The photographer made me feel so comfortable and beautiful and she was able to capture my natural personality. After that, I was inspired to get behind the camera and make others feel the same way that I did – by capturing genuine and beautiful moments.

What do you love most about photography?

Not only seeing life through a lens, but also the confidence I have behind the camera. I have a shy personality, but when I get behind the camera I feel like I come alive!

What lead you to apply for the BRP Internship Program?

I adore your work and have been interested in having a mentor to help me learn how to build my business and attract my dream clients. I feel I will benefit the most from having my first years in photography be more education based and to have a mentor help guide me in the right direction. I am open to learning everything I can to build my business and I would love to go full-time one day.

Where would your dream destination assignment be and why?

Most people would probably choose somewhere in a different country, but my dream is to do a session in Charleston, SC. Since I’m drawn to bright colors and areas with a Southern charm, I think that historic Charleston and it’s famous “Rainbow Row” would be a dream location for me!

If you could have lunch with someone famous, who would it be?

Reese Witherspoon! Not just because she is so down to earth and I love her movies, but also because my mom comes from a line of Witherspoons and I love the idea that we could possibly be related somehow!
