Rainy Statesville Wedding: Elizah + Colton

I am certain that I wouldn’t have been able to shoot this rainy wedding with any other couple.  This was one of the most challenging weddings of my career, but Elizah and Colton made everything so easy and fun!  They are truly one of the most amazing couples I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with!

After having to postpone their May wedding, Elizah and Colton were determined to get married come hell or high water.  The high water part is quite accurate!

We started the day at Elizah and Colton’s home.  Bridesmaids filled every room and it was so much fun spending extra time with the girls!  The entire wedding party was an absolute dream to work with and they all welcomed me with open arms!

Their all outdoor wedding took place in the middle of a hurricane and it didn’t phase them one bit!  Their love is stronger than any hurricane and they were in such great spirits.  Everyone kept hoping for a break in the rain so they continued to push out the ceremony time.  Once it started to get close to dark, we all knew it was now or never.

We all waded through the mud to get to the ceremony area that was tucked into the woods.  Their sweet family members followed me around all evening with umbrellas to try and keep me dry.  As Elizah stepped out of the car and started down the aisle, Colton was overwhelmed at the sight of his beautiful bride.  I’m pretty sure we were all crying at his reaction!

By the time the ceremony was finished it was completely dark outside.  The only lights were at the reception tent across the field.  Even though I had lighting units on hand, it wasn’t quite enough.  A family friend came to the rescue and brought out a powerful light from his truck.  I am forever thankful for this man!  The wedding party didn’t care that it was raining and muddy, they were all just thrilled to be a part of the day!  Elizah and Colton kissed and snuggled in the rain and it was so romantic!

Elizah’s dress had wicked up so much mud that she started saying that it was a new ombre look!  We all died laughing!  That’s the kind of laid back personality she and Colton have.  They didn’t care about the torrential rain or the mud, they just wanted to be married!  Everyone danced and laughed the night away!  It all couldn’t have worked out more perfect!

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Kessler!  It was such an honor and a blessing to be a part of your incredible day!

XOXO,
